THE HISTORY OF THE RX BLUES
The RX Blues (from St. Louis) was founded In 1992 by Surgeon/Musician Jose Diaz. The band is currently the musical vessel for original music in the Blues/R&B genre for Jose Diaz.

The band currently has 4 CDs out and is currently working on a live CD. Their debut CD was released on the independent label "Kode Blue Records" and was titled "Rainy Days." The title song from that CD was included in the 1997 Spotlight Musical Showcase compilation CD.

In 1998, their second CD "Mississippi Moses" was released. This CD was recorded at Music Masters in St. Louis, MO. Several cuts from this CD have been included in an Elite Entertainment promotional CD sponsored by Johnny Richards.This CD has received strong reviews, particularly in the Kansas City Blues Newsletter, and has received airplay all over the world.

Their third CD "Hang Dog Look" was released in October 2000 and will be available through Blue Sky Distributors (St. Louis, MO) as well as through Biograph Records and through http://www.cd-kiosk.com/. Their fourth release, "I Hate My Boss", was released in October 2001. This CD has received strong reviews
and a song from this CD was chosen to be included on a Soulard Tribute to St. Louis broadcasting legend, Jack Buck. Click here to read an article recently published in the St. Louis Post Dispatch about that CD.

Additionally, the RX Blues appeared at the 1999 St. Louis Blues Festival and has opened for many National Acts such as: Chuck Berry, Koko Taylor, Buddy Miles, Tommy Castro, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Tab Benoit,
Jim Thackery and the Drivers, James Solberg, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, and Long John Hunter.

The RX Blues Was The Long Time Saturday Night House Band At Mike And Min's
In The St. Louis Soulard District Where They Had The Opportunity To Appear With
St. Louis Legends Such As David Dee, Eric McSpadden, James Crutchfield, "Smooth Baby" Rich McDonough, Billy Barnett,
Max Baker ( Mama's Pride), and John Wolfe..

The Current Lineup Consists Of Longtime Musicians Who Bring
Years Of Experience To The Band including many long time St. Louis Players:


Gwyddon Kelly - Lead Vocals
Joe Kennedy - Bass and Vocals
Tim Compton - Saxophone, Keyboards, & Vocals
Scott Brown - Drums

And WSIE 88.7, Edwardsville, IL.
